RHYTHM OF LIFE

The daily sound of the drum can mean so much to all of us. One of the few things we know about our universe is that everything in it is vibrating, is in motion, and has a rhythm. Rhythm is anything that repeats itself in time: the moon cycling around the earth, sap rising in the spring, the pulsing arteries of the body. There are three fundamental rhythms that each of us experiences: the personal rhythm of the human body, the larger social rhythm of the family, tribe or nation, and the enveloping cosmic rhythms of the planets and the universe. Each participant will learn examples of the ingenious ways that we use drums and percussion of all kinds to manipulate and experience these rhythms; to communicate, play, work, as well as express cultural connections to death, war, and spirituality.

Yoga students and Tai Chi student
study  these practices for health maintenance and stress reduction. Including the sound of the drum in the practice of Tai Chi and Yoga will allow the students will help the students to communicate with their inner self and their physical body. The rhythm of the drum that renews us is no secret. Drumming is the oldest form of music on the planet. Virtually every culture that exists or has existed on earth has practiced some form of drumming. Throughout our history, drumming has been a part of marked significant transitions, celebrating life's cycles. Drumming along with Yoga and Tai Chi will help to release tension, dispel stress and aggressive feelings and restore our energy.
